Prof Kelvin Kam Lung Chong
Prof Kelvin Chong’s academic interests span across orbital (thyroid eye, tumor, trauma), oculoplastic (lacrimal, eyelid, socket) to ocular surface disorders and related translational studies. He is the Clinical Associate Professor, Head of the Orbital and Oculoplastic Surgery, at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); the Director of the Eye Centre, CUHK Medical Centre, Deputy Director of CUHK Eye Centre; Director of CUHK-HKEH-PWH Oculoplastic Fellowship Program and Director of “Eye Screen, I.CARE” community screening & “Eye Learn, I.CARE” Eye Care Ambassador program. He is the honorary consultant ophthalmologist of the CUHK Medical Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong Eye Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Alice Ho Nethersole Hospital, and Grantham Hospital.
He serves as the President-elect of the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS), the Education Secretary of the International Thyroid Eye Disease Society (ITEDS), and the Past President of the Hong Kong Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (HKSOPRS). Prof Chong received over 25 Awards, including 2025 Faculty Education Award (Collaborative Team) “Eye Learn I.CARE” Joint-University Eye Care Ambassador Training Team, the Asia-Pacific Eye 100 Award (2025), the Prevention of Blindness Award (2024), the Senior Achievement Award (2023) from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the Top Surgical Video Award at the World Ophthalmology Congress (2018). He pioneered the first Thyroid Eye Clinic (TEC) in HK, which was awarded the Hospital Authority Outstanding Team: “TEC@NTEC” (2020).
Prof Chong published over 140 peer-reviewed articles/conference proceedings, 12 book chapters, 15 patents, delivered over 260 invited/ keynote lectures, supervised 13 graduate students, and trained 18 oculoplastic fellows. He obtained over HK$25 million in competitive research grants over the past 5 years.
