Dr Ho Seok Sa
Dr. Ho-Seok Sa, MD, PhD is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan, Seoul, South Korea and the Vice President of Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Oncology & Pathology (APSOOP). He also served as the 1st Vice President of Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) (2023-2024). Since 2010, he has been leading the Division of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (OPRS).
Dr. Sa graduated from the College of Medicine at Seoul National University and completed his ophthalmology residency at Samsung Medical Center. He pursued a fellowship in OPRS under the mentorship of Dr. Yoon-Duck Kim at Samsung Medical Center. To further enhance his expertise, he gained additional research experience in eyelid cancers and orbital tumors as a visiting associate professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA, under the mentorship of Dr. Bita Esmaeli from 2017 to 2019.
Dr. Sa has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, contributed several chapters to medical textbooks, and holds a patent in 3D printing technology. He has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the 1st Academic Investigator Award from the Korean Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (KSOPRS) and Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in 2023 and Asia-Pacific Association of Ophthalmology in 2025.
Dr. Sa’s professional roles include Vice President of APSOOP (2026-), Editor-in-Chief of iPlastics (the official journal of the APSOPRS) (2024-), Visiting Professor, Dalian Medical University, China (2025-), Vice Chair of Communication Unit at Asan Medical Center (2024-), 1st Vice President of APSOPRS (2023-2024), Executive Director of the KSOPRS (2023-2024), Secretary of APSOPRS (2022-2023), International Member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) (2018-), Director of Academic Planning of Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery (2024-), and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society (2020-).
